Shake Shack is an American fast-casual restaurant chain that is based in New York City. It started out as a hot dog cart inside Madison Square Park in 2001, and its popularity steadily grew since then. In 2004, it moved to a stand within the park, expanding its menu from New York-style hot dogs to a one with hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and its namesake milkshakes. There are more than 249 Shake Shack locations both domestically and internationally today. Most of the Shake Shack restaurants are stand-alone restaurants or they exist in shopping malls.
